Myths and Legends of Istria

 

One of many legends about the magical history of this part of the country is that once upon a time Istra was build by the giants who athered stones and built towns on beautiful green hills. Her enchanting beauty is still present today; sleepy stone villages atop emerald hills wake up covered by veils of fog, caressed in the gentle tenderness of the sun’s warm rays.

Istra’s rich history is deeply rooted in legend and folklore. Medieval stone villages scattered atop its rolling emerald hills are rumored to be built by benevolent giants, one of the most famous being Veli Jože (Big Joseph).

 

About the excursion:

Pick up at desired place in Rijeka, drive towards Hum. Short tour through "the smallest town in the world" – Hum.

Afterwards we’ll go to the home of the good giant Veli Jože, Motovun. Motovun, a hilltop town is one of most famous and attractive Istrian medieval town.

Lunch in the traditional Istrian tavern. Depending on the season it is possible to visit one of many traditional fares. Driving to Rovinj. An evening stroll on the beautiful streets of Rovinj. We could be in the different mood and we could even drive You to visit Grožnjan, Gračišće or we can show You the Pazinčica river and a heaven on earth called Zarečki krov.

 

Trip includes: visit to the "smallest town in the world" – according to the Guinness Book of records, visit to the town of Motovun, day trip to Istra, private transfers, lunch of Your choice at traditional tavern of our choice
